Best Self Care Practices

We are a society that Is run on adrenaline and cortisol. Too much stress + too many things pulling our attention in all directions. It’s so important that we take time to BREATHE and take care of ourselves, especially as women.

Caretakers are often neglecting their own health for the sake of others. And it’s important that we create moments of pouring back into ourselves where we can. So I compiled a list of ideas and things that I do regularly to take care of myself hoping it will inspire you to as well.

1.) Somatic Exercises

Did you know that the act of these gentle and small movements can help to lower cortisol and therefore inflammation, stress, anxiety, etc? I love this course (don’t let her handle deter you.) She’s wonderful and so are her courses. I own the 30 course! Use discount code “thedetoxedlife” for 10% off! She even has an option for children. They only take 5-10 minutes a day.

2.)Sit and Drink a Tea or Tonic

I love just taking 10 minutes to sit and drink something slowly. We often don’t sit in silence but it can be so good for our bodies. Extra points if it’s in the sun. But if you can wake up before your kiddos and take a few minutes or even during nap time - do it!

I like to drink tea or one of my favorites “Harmony” or “Gold” from Organifi. They’re filled with adaptogens to support balance in hormones and Gold is wonderful for winding down before bed. Use code Detox20 (it stacks on their sales too!) Shop here.

3.) Take an Epsom Salt Bath

Magnesium is a crucial mineral for our health. We need it in all different types and amounts. One great way to get it in is through a bath. I recommend using a high quality plain one with zero add ins. Here is the big bag I grab off amazon. I also like to increase its benefits by adding pure essential oils. My favorite for baths before bed is Serenity from Doterra. Get it for 25% off here.

4.) Aroma therapy + Listen to a Podcast

I love utilizing essential oils throughout my day and night. The science behind aroma therapy is robust. We have the ability to calm our nervous systems and create aromatic anchors easily with them which can be beneficial to lowering stress. Doterra has a great kit for those who want to start diffusing regularly but want to keep it simple. Check it out here! You get it for 25% off retail pricing through my links.

I like to pair diffusing with a simple or restful activity like listening to a podcast. I’ve been enjoying Organic Olivia’s podcast lately. Highly recommend if you like learning about health.

5.)Castor Oil Pack + Watch a Show

Sometimes we just need to tune out the world and watch a show. But I like to make that time good for my body while I veg out. Castor Oil Packs are a great way to support our livers, estrogen balance, inflammation, and digestion. They’re super easy to apply and I find that it also helps with sleep and restfulness.
